Hey Crate … just wish you’d asked first.
Posted by Jackie
Early in 2006 we introduced a 3 pc. storage container set in four of our signature patterns adding sizzle to the food storage category.
It made perfect sense to us to design a product that goes from table to fridge or freezer with the snap of a lid.
Neiman Marcus agreed and sold our containers for many seasons supporting our design philosophy.
In 2007 Pottery Barn kids asked us to make a mini version of our set for children to sell in their stores and we enthusiastically obliged.
Now in 2009 Crate & Barrel has started selling a striped 3 pc. storage container set that looks very familiar to us.
While Crate’s set is less expensive, we can freely certify ours storage containers are 100% melamine, freezer safe, have a sexier rounded bottom, have a more beautifully colored stripe, and are authentic …. brought to you by the brand that believes color makes everything taste better.
Thank you Neiman Marcus, Pottery Barn, and all our independent retailers for supporting small business in America

I know this is frustrating…all of your hard work and research and then someone steals it without permission. I always try to look at these kinds of things as…” at least I’m leading in this area”… and coming up with the new stuff…time to get creative again!
Your product style and color is much more beautiful and attractive! Keep up the awesome work!

Crate and Barrel has been famous for its work with stripes for decades. Sure they may have been inspired by your work, but stripes are hardly copyrighted. I hate piracy in design, but what you are insinuating seems childish in this case. Stripes have been and will be applied to every surface imaginable. It’s not some stroke of genius.

Hi Bob-
Our proprietary three piece nested mold shape for food storage, and full pattern coverage using a myriad of color around a melamine surface are what prompted me to make this post. The fact that that Crate chose to also make their containers using a stripe is besides the point, it just makes the likeness that much more apparent.
For the record – Crate and Barrel saw this blog post a few days after it went up , made an apology and removed them from their site and stores swiftly.
