Avoiding a Holiday Catastrophe
Wednesday, December 16th, 2009
It’s the time of the year where we scour websites and stores looking for the perfect gift. There’s so much pressure, it can cause so much stress, add to that long check out lines and holiday songs blasting everywhere, it’s so hectic . A friend of mine mentioned that a fundraiser he’s participating in might be a great place to find unique gifts. Knowing that I am a crazy cat person, he mentioned that United Bamboo would be selling a cat calendar. A few clicks later I was on their site and read this:
Limited edition calendar featuring beautiful kittens in United Bamboo Ready-to-Wear. Photos by Noah Sheldon. 14.5″ x 11.5″.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to KittyKind, a New York City not-for-profit, no-kill, all-volunteer cat rescue and adoption group.
As I clicked around I was immediately reminded of the four cats I had at home, probably burrowed into the covers dealing with the winter chill. Our hairless cat Laurent has to wear a sweater all the time to stay warm and I was immediately jealous of the cat below wearing such a vibrant designer pattern. Dogs get all the luck, the clothing section for them is packed with every possible style and color but the tiny cat clothing market is lacking. We have been lucky finding some great sweaters on Etsy but it would be nice to have more.

We’re obsessed with all of our cats, it’s not a secret. Raleigh is a talkative and clingy Siamese, Mr. Cat is a sleek black cat with “Thriller” eyes, Laurent sprints around like a heat seeking missile, and our only female cat Signe is a Russian Blue is the bully of the house and has permanent kitten fur. She looks a lot like the Russian Blue featured in the calendar, wouldn’t you agree?

Good luck with your shopping and remember you can always get an affordable, personal gift that helps out those in need.
